In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15-Oct 15), The UNC-Chapel Hill Latina/o Studies Program is thrilled to present visiting writer Reyna Grande. Grande is an award-winning novelist and memoirist. Her novels, Across a Hundred Mountains (2006) and Dancing with Butterflies (2009), were published to critical acclaim and have been read widely in schools across the country. Her latest book, The Distance Between Us (2012), is a coming-of-age story relating Reyna’s life before and after immigrating without documentation from Mexico to the United States in pursuit of a better life.

Grande will be giving a keynote titled “Crossing Borders” and will be signing books. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
