The Latina/o Studies Program is committed to supporting Graduate Teaching Fellows who wish to incorporate Latina/o Studies into their English 105(i) courses. We believe that it is important to educate the broader UNC community about Latina/o experiences, histories, and knowledge. Graduate Teaching Fellows can play an important role in this process, and the Latina/o Studies Program is committed to supporting instructors who wish to diversify their own courses and teaching. To that end, the Latina/o Studies Program is proud to offer the Latina/o Studies Teaching Award.

To choose which program would be best for you, we encourage Graduate Teaching Fellows to visit the Latina/o Studies Teaching Award page, which contains a detailed descriptions of the program. We invite and encourage both specialists and non-specialists to apply, as the program is designed to offer robust support for instructors with all levels of experience. If you would like to consult with us on a unit project, please fill out this form.

The Latina/o Studies Teaching Award is a financial award designed to support instructors as they create and develop an original unit assignment that integrates Latina/o Studies into their English 105(i) course. This award is ideal for instructors who wish to intensively develop their proficiency in teaching Latina/o Studies through the creation of a new unit assignment. Recipients of the Latina/o Studies Teaching Award will be featured on the Latina/o Studies Program website as Affiliated Graduate Teaching Fellows.
