Graduate Teaching Fellow
English and Comparative Literature

Valerie Anne Burgess Sundararaj is a Ph.D. student and Teaching Fellow in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her current research is situated at the intersection of contemporary multiethnic American literature (with a specific focus on LatinX authors), Disability Studies, Madness Studies, and the Environmental Humanities. She is formulating an “Eco-Crip-Gothic” critical framework to investigate how built and natural environments are depicted as “maddening” or “disabling” geographies for women.
