Rene Marzuk is a first-year graduate student in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and a Royster Fellow at UNC. He is interested in literary articulations of marginalized identities as well as in literary instances of emergence, widely defined. He is a contributing editor of The Envious Lobster, an open-access anthology of nineteenth-century U.S. nature writing and environmental writing for children. He also collaborates with the feminist literary collective Writers Resist as a poetry and prose editor. As a new staff member of the Latina/o Studies Program, Rene will be involved with the program’s visual communication efforts. He grew up in Cuba.
